Christ - Doctor for Body and Soul
Christ was a great physician. There is no doctor in the world history like him. We read from his great actions in the gospel. No memory of Him should be lost. So the biblical stories were represented as artificial mosaics using small colored stones. I have selected the images from churches in Ravenna/Italy from the 6th century AD. You see Christ the Healer and his sign of the cross above his head.
Lk 5, 24. Healing of the paralytic man.
Christ healed all people who turned to him for help.

Christ healed Demon possessed people.

He even woke up dead like Lazarus to come out of his grave.
He himself overcomes death and makes Easter possible, the greatest event in world history.
The daughter of Christ
For the Christians of the ancient church Christ was a doctor. But was not a doctor as we imagine today. If you want to realize Him as a doctor you must compare Him with the doctors of His time and its medicine.
Back then, a doctor didn't go to university. He learned from a teacher and received his approval from HIM as his "son". Christ did not have a son but a daughter - a sign of humility.
Back then, a divine doctor did not compare HIMSELF with food - bread, wine, water.
A cloak covers the body and depicts it. You cannot see the body directly, but yo can see what lies underneath. The cloak of Christ is HIS creation. He the creator knows how is creation works. Christ places the authority over his natural medicine in the hands of a woman he has healed.
